The ULN2803A is an array of 8 Darlington transistor pairs in an 18-pin DIP package, designed to drive relays, lamps, solenoids and other high-power loads up to 500 mA and 50 V from TTL-level inputs. Frequently asked questions
Can I drive it directly from an Arduino pin?
Yes, its inputs are TTL-compatible, so a 5V Arduino digital output can drive a channel directly. The current drawn from the MCU pin must stay within that pin's rating.
Do I need external flyback diodes?
No, each channel has internal clamp diodes. Connect the COM pin to the supply of the inductive load so they work correctly.
