How do I drive a relay coil from an Arduino with this IC?
Connect an Arduino output pin to one input (pins 1 to 7). Connect the matching output (pins 10 to 16) to one side of the relay coil and the other coil side to the positive supply. Connect the COM pin (pin 9) to the coil supply to use the built-in clamp diodes.
Can it switch loads above 500 mA?
No. Each channel is rated for about 500 mA. For higher currents, use a MOSFET driver or a dedicated motor driver.
