Frequently asked questions
Do I need termination resistors on the CAN bus?
Yes. A high-speed CAN bus normally needs a 120 ohm termination resistor at each physical end of the bus, between CANH and CANL. Without it, signal reflections can cause communication errors.
Can I connect the TXD and RXD pins directly to a 3.3V MCU?
Check the logic-level compatibility of the transceiver's TXD and RXD pins with your MCU's I/O voltage before connecting. If the levels do not match, use a level shifter, and always verify against the datasheet.
