About this product
SMD RS-485 and RS-422 transceiver IC that converts logic-level UART signals into differential bus signals for longer-distance industrial and sensor networks. It connects a microcontroller to a shared RS-485 bus over twisted pair. Add proper bus termination and control the driver enable pins so that only one device transmits at a time.

How is transmit and receive direction controlled?
RS-485 transceivers like this one use driver-enable and receiver-enable pins, which the microcontroller switches so only one side drives the bus at a time. Check the pinout in the datasheet before wiring.
Does a RS-485 bus need termination?
Yes, for longer cables. Terminate each end of the bus with a resistor close to the cable's characteristic impedance, which is commonly 120 Ω for twisted pair.
