About this product
A small light-dependent resistor (LDR), also called a photocell, whose resistance drops as the light falling on it increases. It is widely used for ambient light detection, such as switching a lamp on when a room gets dark. It is usually read by pairing it with a fixed resistor as a voltage divider on an analog input.

Frequently asked questions
What is the price of Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor (GL5528) in Egypt?
Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor (GL5528) currently costs between 2 and 10 EGP across 3 offers in Egypt.
Where can I buy Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor (GL5528) in Egypt?
Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor (GL5528) is available from Makers Electronics, Future Electronics, and Circuits Electronics. Compare the offers above to find the best price.
How do I read it with an Arduino?
Build a voltage divider: connect the LDR between 5 V and the analog pin, and a fixed resistor of about 10 kΩ between the analog pin and GND. The voltage at the analog pin rises or falls with light level.
Can it measure exact light levels in lux?
No. An LDR gives a rough, non-linear and slow response to light, so it is suited to on/off triggers or relative brightness comparisons, not precise lux measurement.
