About this product
A light-dependent resistor (LDR, photocell) whose resistance drops as light increases, from about 10 kΩ in darkness to about 1 kΩ in bright light. It is used for ambient light detection, such as switching lights on at night. A microcontroller reads the light level through a voltage divider.

Frequently asked questions
What is the price of Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor, Large (GL5528) in Egypt?
Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor, Large (GL5528) currently costs 20 EGP in Egypt.
Where can I buy Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor, Large (GL5528) in Egypt?
Photo-Resistor LDR Light Sensor, Large (GL5528) is available from Future Electronics. Compare the offers above to find the best price.
How do I read it with an Arduino?
Connect the LDR in a voltage divider with a fixed resistor (around 10 kΩ is common) between 5V and GND, and read the midpoint with analogRead() on an analog pin. The reading rises or falls with light depending on which side of the divider the LDR is placed.
Can it measure exact light levels in lux?
It is best for detecting relative light levels or thresholds. LDRs are non-linear and respond slowly, so they are not accurate for precise lux measurement; a digital light sensor is better for that.
