About this product
The ACS758LCB-050B is a bidirectional Hall-effect current sensor IC from Allegro MicroSystems that measures AC and DC current up to ±50 A without breaking the circuit. It outputs a voltage proportional to the current, which makes it suitable for motor drives, battery monitoring, power supplies and overcurrent protection.

Frequently asked questions
How is the sensor connected in a circuit?
The current to be measured passes through the IC's internal conductor between its IP+ and IP- pins, so the sensor is placed in series with the load. The analog output is then read by an ADC pin on a microcontroller.
Can it be read directly by a 3.3 V microcontroller?
The output is ratiometric and sits near half of the supply voltage at zero current. With a 5 V supply the output can exceed 3.3 V at high currents, so a voltage divider or a 3.3 V supply and scaling should be used with a 3.3 V ADC. Check the datasheet for the exact output range.
