About this product
The H2010 is a U-shaped slotted photo interrupter with an infrared LED transmitter and a phototransistor receiver facing each other across a gap. When an object blocks the beam in the slot, the output changes state. It is used for detecting slotted wheels in encoders and for end-stop or home-position detection on moving heads of CNC machines.

Frequently asked questions
How do I wire the H2010 to a microcontroller?
The sensor has an IR LED side and a phototransistor side, each needing its own connection. Drive the LED side through a current-limiting resistor and read the phototransistor output with a pull-up resistor to the microcontroller logic supply. Confirm the pin labels on your module or datasheet before powering it.
What is it typically used for?
It is used to detect the presence or passing of an object, such as a slot or flag on a rotating disc, in encoders and limit detection on CNC axes. It is a non-contact switch, so it does not wear from mechanical contact.
