About this product
TIP36 is a PNP silicon power transistor designed for high collector currents. It is used in audio output stages, linear regulators, and motor or relay driver circuits. It is the complementary partner of the NPN TIP35 for push-pull designs, and a heatsink is recommended when dissipating significant power.

Frequently asked questions
Can I drive TIP36 directly from an Arduino or ESP32 pin?
Not reliably. TIP36 needs substantial base current to switch its full collector current, while GPIO pins supply only a few tens of milliamps. Use a small driver transistor or a logic-level MOSFET stage between the pin and the base, and mount the device on a heatsink for high power.
What is the complementary transistor for TIP36?
The complementary NPN device is TIP35, commonly used together in push-pull output stages. Voltage ratings differ between suffix variants (A, B, C), so check the datasheet for the exact suffix before pairing.
