Frequently asked questions
How do I wire the four leads?
A 4-lead NEMA 17 motor has two coils with two wires each. Identify each coil with a multimeter by checking continuity (the pair that reads closed is one coil), then connect them to the A and B outputs of the driver. Reversing one coil's polarity changes the rotation direction.
What driver current should I set?
Set the driver current limit to 1.8 A or lower, depending on the cooling available. A lower current reduces heat and noise but also reduces the available torque.
