About this product
MP1584EN is an adjustable step-down (buck) DC-DC converter IC in an SOP-8 package, delivering up to 3A from a 4.5V to 28V input. It is designed for compact, weight- and size-sensitive designs such as portable battery devices and communication equipment. The output is set by an external resistor divider, and the switching frequency reaches 1.5 MHz maximum.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set the output voltage?
Connect a resistor divider from the output to the feedback pin and ground. The output is set by the ratio of the two resistors against the 0.8V feedback reference. Keep the target output within the 0.8V to 20V range and follow the datasheet formula.
What external parts does it need?
It needs an external inductor, input and output capacitors, a feedback divider and typically a freewheeling (catch) diode. Use the application circuit from the datasheet, and place the input capacitors close to the IC to limit noise and voltage spikes.
