About this product
The LM2575-5V is a 1 A step-down (buck) switching regulator with a fixed 5 V output from Texas Instruments. It reduces a higher DC input voltage efficiently with a small number of external parts. It is commonly used to power microcontroller boards and logic circuits from 12 V or 24 V supplies.

Frequently asked questions
What external parts does it need?
It needs an external inductor, a Schottky catch diode, and input and output capacitors, with values given in the datasheet for the chosen configuration. Without them the regulator will not operate correctly.
Does it need a heatsink?
It depends on the input voltage and the load current. Dropping a higher input voltage to 5 V at 1 A dissipates noticeable heat, so check the datasheet thermal section and add a heatsink or copper area when needed.
