Frequently asked questions
How do I drive IRFP9240 as a high-side switch?
Connect the source to the positive rail and the load to the drain. Pull the gate below the source by about 10 V to turn it on, and bring the gate back up to the source voltage to turn it off.
Can I use it with a microcontroller directly?
Not directly. A microcontroller output usually cannot pull the gate low enough relative to a high positive rail, so a level-shifting transistor or gate driver is normally needed.
