Frequently asked questions
Can I connect a DB9 serial cable directly to a microcontroller pin?
Not directly. DB9 serial signals such as RS-232 use voltage levels that are much higher than 3.3 V or 5 V logic. Use a level shifter or RS-232 transceiver between the connector and the microcontroller.
What pin spacing does the PCB side use?
The PCB side uses 2.54 mm pin header holes, which match standard breadboard and perfboard spacing.
