The BT136S-600E is a logic-level triac in a TO-252 (DPAK) surface-mount package, rated for 4A RMS on-state current and 600V repetitive peak off-state voltage. Frequently asked questions
Can I drive it directly from a 3.3V or 5V microcontroller pin?
It is a logic-level triac, so it can be triggered from low-voltage logic, but a series gate resistor is recommended. For mains loads, use an optocoupler-based driver to isolate the microcontroller from the mains side.
Is it suitable for 220V or 230V mains loads?
Its 600V rating covers 230V AC mains with margin, but the 4A RMS current limit applies. Proper fusing, heat sinking, isolation and a snubber for inductive loads are needed in a real design.
