About this product
BF422 is a PNP high-voltage transistor, historically used in the video output stages of CRT televisions and monitors. It is the complementary PNP partner of the NPN BF421 in high-voltage designs. Verify the polarity, package, and voltage rating in the datasheet before building with it.

Frequently asked questions
How is a PNP transistor wired differently from an NPN?
In a PNP the emitter sits at the positive supply and the base must be pulled lower than the emitter to turn it on. This is the opposite of an NPN, so high-side switching is the usual PNP use.
Can I use BF422 in a low-voltage Arduino project?
It is designed for high-voltage stages, so for low-voltage logic-level switching a standard small-signal PNP such as BC557 is generally a simpler choice. Check the datasheet for the exact voltage and current limits before use.
