Frequently asked questions
What is the price of BD709 NPN Power Transistor TO-220 80V 12A in Egypt?
BD709 NPN Power Transistor TO-220 80V 12A currently costs 20 EGP in Egypt.
Where can I buy BD709 NPN Power Transistor TO-220 80V 12A in Egypt?
BD709 NPN Power Transistor TO-220 80V 12A is available from Makers Electronics. Compare the offers above to find the best price.
How do I size the base resistor for switching a load with the BD709?
Base current should be the collector current divided by the current gain (hFE) at your operating point, with extra drive for saturation. Check the hFE curves in the datasheet. Use a series base resistor from the driving logic output, and keep the load current within the rated collector current.
Does it need a heatsink?
At high collector currents or power levels, yes. The 75W rating applies only at a case temperature of 25°C, so a heatsink is needed to keep the power dissipation within safe limits, and the rating must be derated as case temperature rises.
