About this product
XL1509-5.0E1 is a buck (step-down) DC-DC converter IC with an internal power MOSFET, providing a fixed 5 V output up to 2 A from an input of 8 V to 36 V. It is used to power 5 V logic, microcontroller boards and sensors from 12 V or 24 V sources in a compact SOP-8 package. External inductor, diode and capacitors are required.

Frequently asked questions
What external components does it need?
It needs an external inductor, a catch (freewheeling) diode, and input and output capacitors. Choose their values and ratings according to the typical application circuit in the XL1509 datasheet, as they set ripple and current capability.
Can it power an Arduino or a 5V sensor module from 12V?
Yes. The 5 V output suits Arduino boards and 5 V modules as long as their combined current stays within the 2 A limit. Keep the input within 8 V to 36 V and check that the regulator's dropout and efficiency suit your load.
