About this product
XL1509-3.3E1 is a buck (step-down) DC-DC converter IC with an internal power MOSFET, giving a fixed 3.3 V output up to 2 A from an input of 8 V to 36 V. It is used to power microcontrollers, sensors and logic boards from a 12 V or 24 V source in a compact SOP-8 package. External inductor, diode and capacitors are required.

Frequently asked questions
What external components does it need?
It needs an external inductor, a catch (freewheeling) diode, and input and output capacitors. Choose their values and ratings according to the typical application circuit in the XL1509 datasheet, as they set ripple and current capability.
Can it power an ESP32 from a 12V battery?
Yes, within its 8 V to 36 V input range and 2 A output limit, a 3.3 V output is suitable for an ESP32. Wi-Fi transmission causes current peaks, so use adequate output capacitance and make sure the supply can deliver those peaks.
