About this product
A handheld insulation resistance tester (megger) used to check the insulation of electrical equipment, cables, motors, transformers and capacitors. The UT501A tests insulation at up to 1000 V and supports polarization index (PI) and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) measurements, with automatic discharge after testing.

Frequently asked questions
Can I test equipment that is connected to power?
No. Insulation tests must be done on de-energised, isolated equipment. Applying up to 1000 V to live circuits is dangerous.
What is the difference between PI and DAR?
PI is the ratio of the 10-minute to the 1-minute insulation resistance reading. DAR is the ratio of the 60-second to the 30-second reading. Both indicate insulation condition over time.
