About this product
TIP41 is an NPN silicon power transistor for general-purpose switching and amplification at currents up to 6 A. It is commonly used in motor drivers, power switching stages, and audio output circuits. It is the complementary partner of the PNP TIP42 for push-pull designs.

Frequently asked questions
How do I drive a TIP41 from a microcontroller?
Use a series base resistor and make sure the base current is enough for the load, because a GPIO pin cannot supply the full collector current. For loads above a few hundred milliamps, add a driver transistor or use a MOSFET instead, and add a flyback diode across inductive loads such as motors or relays.
What is the complementary transistor for TIP41?
The complementary PNP device is TIP42, which is commonly paired with TIP41 in push-pull and complementary output stages. Check the voltage suffix variant in the datasheet before pairing, since the base type and suffixes have different voltage ratings.
