About this product
A breakout board based on the Semtech SX1509 chip, which adds 16 I/O pins to a microcontroller over a two-wire I2C interface. The chip can also drive LEDs with programmable intensity, blinking and fading, and it can act as a level shifter between devices running at different voltages. It is useful when an Arduino or similar board runs out of pins.

Frequently asked questions
How many wires do I need to connect it?
Two signal wires for I2C (SDA and SCL), plus power and ground.
Can it drive LEDs directly?
Yes, the chip has LED driver features for controlling intensity, blinking and fading. Use current-limiting resistors where needed and check the datasheet for per-pin current limits.
