About this product
The SN74HC240 is a CMOS octal buffer and line driver with inverting 3-state outputs. It is organized as two groups of four buffers, each with its own active-low output enable. It is used to buffer signals and drive bus lines in digital circuits.

Frequently asked questions
Is the SN74HC240 inverting?
Yes. Each output is the logical inverse of its input. If you need non-inverted outputs, use the SN74HC244, which has the same buffer structure but non-inverting outputs.
How are the output enables used?
Pull 1OE low to enable the first group of four outputs and 2OE low to enable the second group. When an enable is high, the corresponding outputs go into a high-impedance state.
