Frequently asked questions
How do I measure current with this shunt?
Measure the voltage across the shunt with a differential amplifier or ADC and apply Ohm's law, I = V / R. At 1 mΩ, 1 A produces only 1 mV, so a current-sense amplifier or high-gain stage is needed.
How should I connect it for accurate readings?
Use separate Kelvin (four-wire) sense connections from the pads to the measurement point so that lead and trace resistance do not add error. Check the power dissipation as well: at 20 A the shunt dissipates about 0.4 W (I²R).
