About this product
The SMBJ33A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode with a 33 V stand-off voltage. It protects DC lines against ESD and voltage surges by clamping spikes, and comes in a surface-mount SMB (DO-214AA) package. Typical uses include DC power inputs, motor lines and communication ports.

Frequently asked questions
How do I connect it?
Connect it across the line to protect, with the cathode (banded end) to the positive line and the anode to ground. It stays off in normal operation and clamps during a surge. Do not use it on lines that normally run above 33 V.
Can I use it on AC lines?
Use the bidirectional version (SMBJ33CA) for AC lines or signals that swing both polarities. The unidirectional SMBJ33A is for DC lines.
