How is a unidirectional TVS connected?
Connect it in parallel with the line to protect, between the signal or rail and ground. The cathode (banded end) goes to the positive or protected line, and the anode goes to ground.
Which stand-off voltage should I choose?
The stand-off voltage should be at or above the normal working voltage of the line, so the TVS stays off during normal operation. The 18 V version suits circuits running up to about 18 V.
