About this product
A kit for building a small automatic watering system. A capacitive soil moisture sensor measures the water content in the soil. When the soil is dry, the Arduino switches a pump on through a relay for a short time, waits for the water to soak in, and measures again. The pump runs from a separate 5V 2A adapter, not from the Arduino pins.

Frequently asked questions
Can I power the pump directly from the Arduino 5V pin?
No. The kit uses a separate 5V 2A supply because a pump can draw more current than the Arduino can safely supply, and the relay switches the pump on and off through its own circuit.
How do I calibrate the soil sensor?
Record the sensor reading in dry air and in a glass of water, then use those two values as the limits for converting the reading to a percentage. Calibrating this way makes the watering decision match your soil.
