About this product
A temperature-controlled fan project in which a DHT11 sensor measures the temperature and the Arduino switches a 5V, 8x8 cm fan on above 28°C and off below 26°C. A 2N2222 transistor drives the fan because an Arduino pin cannot power a motor directly, and a 1N4007 diode protects the circuit from the reverse voltage produced by the motor.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect the fan directly to an Arduino pin?
No. An Arduino pin cannot supply enough current for a fan motor, so the fan is switched through a 2N2222 transistor that acts as an electronic switch.
Where should the 1N4007 diode be placed?
Across the fan motor terminals, with its cathode (the marked end) toward the positive supply, so it conducts the reverse spike when the motor switches off.
