About this product
A 1-meter shielded RS232 serial extension cable with a DB9 female and a DB9 male connector. It uses straight-through wiring with 28 AWG conductors and thumbscrews for secure locking, and is used to extend standard DB9 serial links between PCs, industrial equipment and RS232 devices. Straight-through wiring is not a null-modem cable.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect an Arduino or ESP32 directly to this cable?
No. Arduino and ESP32 boards use TTL logic levels (5 V or 3.3 V), while RS232 uses higher voltage levels of about ±12 V. You need a level converter such as a MAX232 module, or a USB-to-TTL adapter, between the board and the RS232 port.
Will it work for direct PC-to-device communication?
It depends on the device. This cable is straight-through, so it suits connecting to a device that expects a standard extension. For direct communication between two DTE devices, such as two computers, a null-modem cable is usually required to cross the transmit and receive lines.
