Frequently asked questions
How do I wire a 3-wire NPN NO sensor?
Connect the brown wire to the positive supply, the blue wire to 0 V (ground), and the black wire to the signal input. The NPN output pulls the line to ground when a metal object is detected, so use a pull-up resistor on the microcontroller input. Confirm the wire colours and supply voltage on the sensor label before wiring.
Can it detect plastic or aluminium?
No. Inductive sensors detect only metal. Non-ferrous metals such as aluminium and copper give a shorter sensing distance than steel.
