About this product

The 7812 is a positive fixed linear voltage regulator that outputs a stable 12V from a higher unregulated DC input, rated for load currents up to 1A. It is commonly used to power 12V circuits, relays and modules from a higher-voltage supply in Arduino and prototype projects. The input must stay at least about 2.5V above 12V, and a heat sink is needed for heavier loads.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of Positive Voltage Regulator 12V 1A (7812) in Egypt?

Positive Voltage Regulator 12V 1A (7812) currently costs 7.9 EGP in Egypt.

Where can I buy Positive Voltage Regulator 12V 1A (7812) in Egypt?

Positive Voltage Regulator 12V 1A (7812) is available from Most Electronics. Compare the offers above to find the best price.

Can I use the 7812 to power an Arduino Uno?

The 7812 outputs 12V, which is at the upper end of the Arduino Uno's recommended 7–12V barrel jack range. It is better suited to powering 12V loads directly, or to feeding a 5V regulator stage, than to acting as a supply for the Uno itself.

Why does the 7812 get hot, and what wiring does it need?

As a linear regulator, the 7812 dissipates the voltage difference between input and output multiplied by the load current as heat. Use a heat sink for larger currents, and follow the datasheet by adding a small input capacitor (about 0.33 µF) and an output capacitor (about 0.1 µF) close to the pins.
