About this product
The PCF8574TS is an 8-bit remote I/O expander for the I2C bus, supplied in a TSSOP16 package. It adds eight general-purpose I/O pins to a microcontroller using only the two I2C lines, and up to eight devices can share one bus for 64 I/O ports. The listed working voltage is 2.5 V to 6 V. Despite the title, it is an I/O expander, not an I2C controller.

Frequently asked questions
What I2C address does it use?
The PCF8574 address ranges from 0x20 to 0x27, set by the A0, A1 and A2 pins. The PCF8574A variant uses 0x38 to 0x3F instead, so check the part suffix before wiring several devices on one bus.
Does it need pull-up resistors?
Yes. The I2C lines are open-drain, so external pull-up resistors are needed on SDA and SCL, usually a few kilohms to the supply voltage.
