About this product
The OMRON E3JK-R4M1 is a retro-reflective photoelectric sensor that detects opaque objects when they break the beam between the sensor and its reflector, with a sensing distance of 0 m to 4 m. It uses a red 660 nm LED and a relay output rated up to 3 A, so it can switch loads directly. Typical uses include presence detection, object counting and machine automation.

Frequently asked questions
Does this sensor need a reflector?
Yes. As a retro-reflective type, it needs a separate reflector mounted opposite the sensor, and the beam must be broken between the two for detection.
Can it be powered from an Arduino 5 V pin?
No. It needs 12 to 240 VDC or 24 to 240 VAC. Its relay contact (max 3 A) can be wired as a switch to a separate circuit or to a controller input through a suitable interface.
