About this product
An educational model of a stick that detects obstacles ahead using an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor. A buzzer beeps faster as an obstacle gets closer, within an alert range of about one metre. It runs from a 9V battery connected to the Arduino VIN pin and includes an on/off switch and a sensor holder. It is a learning model, not an approved mobility aid.

Frequently asked questions
Can I power the stick from a 9V battery?
Yes. The kit connects the 9V battery to the Arduino VIN pin, which accepts an unregulated input voltage and regulates it on the board. Keep the power switch in the circuit so you can turn it off when not in use.
How does the code measure distance?
The pulseIn() function measures how long the echo pin stays HIGH. Distance in centimetres is the echo time multiplied by the speed of sound and divided by two, because the sound travels to the obstacle and back.
