What resistor should I use with these LEDs?
For a 5 V supply, a 220 Ω to 330 Ω resistor is a common starting point for 3 mm LEDs at roughly 10 to 20 mA. Forward voltage differs by colour, so calculate the value for the specific LED colour you are using.
How do I identify the anode and cathode?
On most 3 mm LEDs the longer lead is the anode (positive), and the flat edge on the rim of the plastic body marks the cathode (negative).
