How do I wire a 4-pin tactile switch?
The two pins on each side of the switch are internally connected. Connect one pin from one side to the microcontroller input and a pin from the opposite side to GND. Use an internal or external pull-up resistor on the input so it reads high when the button is released.
Does the switch need debouncing?
Yes. Mechanical tactile switches produce a short burst of contact bounce when pressed. A software delay of roughly 10 to 20 ms or a simple RC filter on the input is usually enough to get a clean single press.
