About this product
MCP23017-E/SO is a 16-bit general-purpose parallel I/O expander controlled over I2C. It adds 16 configurable input or output pins through two 8-bit ports, PORTA and PORTB. Each pin's direction, input polarity and output state are set through internal registers, so a microcontroller can read and drive many more pins using only the I2C bus.

How do I select the I2C address?
The A0, A1 and A2 address pins set the device address. Up to eight MCP23017 devices can share one I2C bus, with addresses from 0x20 to 0x27.
