Frequently asked questions
Can I connect it directly to a 5V Arduino pin?
No. The rated range is 1.5 V to 3 V and the current can reach about 200 mA, which is above the safe limit of a microcontroller pin. Drive it through a transistor or MOSFET from a supply within the rated voltage, and add a flyback diode across the motor terminals.
What supply voltage should I use?
Use a supply between 1.5 V and 3 V, for example two 1.5 V cells in series (3 V nominal). Higher voltage shortens the motor life or can damage it.
