Frequently asked questions
How do I wire the MCP4131 to an Arduino?
Connect it over SPI using the CS, SCK and SDI pins, power VDD and VSS, and wire the resistor terminals PA, PB and the wiper PW into your circuit. The MCP4131 is write-only and has no SDO output, so its wiper setting cannot be read back.
Can it operate from a 3.3 V supply?
Yes. The listed supply range is 1.8 to 5.5 V, so it works with both 3.3 V and 5 V logic. The wiper setting is volatile and resets when power is removed, so reapply it in your code after each power-up.
