Frequently asked questions
Can I drive the IRFD024 directly from a 5 V Arduino pin?
Not reliably. The IRFD024 is not a logic-level MOSFET, and its on-resistance is specified at 10 V gate drive, so a 5 V GPIO may not fully turn it on. Use a logic-level MOSFET or a transistor stage between the microcontroller and the gate.
Do I need a flyback diode with it?
Yes, when switching motors or relay coils. Place a flyback diode across the inductive load to protect the MOSFET from voltage spikes when the load turns off.
