Can I drive this MOSFET directly from a microcontroller pin?
Not reliably. The gate-source threshold is 2 V and the gate is rated to ±20 V. A 3.3 V or 5 V pin may not fully turn the device on, so use a gate driver or a logic-level MOSFET and check the on-resistance test conditions in the full datasheet.
What is the basic wiring for switching a load with it?
For low-side switching, connect the load between the supply and the drain, the source to ground, and the gate to the control signal through a series resistor. Use adequate heatsinking for high-current operation.
