Can I install it in reverse?
No. Reverse polarity can damage the capacitor or cause it to vent. Connect the marked negative leg (stripe on the body) to the ground or lower-potential side.
Can I use a higher voltage capacitor instead?
Yes. A higher voltage rating than the circuit voltage is safe, but it must never be lower than the working voltage. Keep the same capacitance for the same filtering behaviour.
