About this product
A small electret condenser microphone for picking up sound in acoustic and audio projects. Electret capsules are passive and need a bias voltage and a small amplifier stage before the signal can be read by a microcontroller or audio input. Suitable for sound detection, voice input and sound-controlled LED projects.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect it directly to an Arduino analog pin?
Not directly. The electret capsule outputs a small analog signal that needs a bias network and amplification, for example an op-amp circuit or a ready-made microphone amplifier module, before an analog input can read it.
Does it need a bias resistor?
Yes. Electret capsules are normally wired with a bias resistor, commonly around 2.2 kΩ, between the supply and the output. Check the datasheet of the amplifier you use for the exact value.
