The BPW34 is a silicon PIN photodiode with a 7.5 mm² sensitive area, used as a light sensor and as a micro solar cell in small experiments. It responds to wavelengths from 430 to 1100 nm, covering visible and near-infrared light. Its electrical output is very small, in the microamp and hundreds-of-millivolt range.
