How do I use it as a switch?
For a high-side PNP switch, connect the emitter to the positive supply and the load to the collector, then pull the base low through a base resistor to turn it on. Size the base resistor from the base current your load needs, and check the hFE in the datasheet.
Can it drive a relay or a motor directly?
Only small loads within the 500mA collector current limit. Relay coils and motors are inductive, so use a flyback diode across the load and a driver stage sized for the load current.
