How do I use the BC160 as a switch for a load?
In a PNP high-side switch the emitter goes to the positive supply and the load sits between the collector and ground. Pulling the base low through a resistor turns the transistor on. Check the pinout in the datasheet for your exact package orientation.
Can the BC160 replace an NPN transistor like the BC547?
No. PNP and NPN transistors have opposite polarity, so the circuit must be designed for PNP. A BC160 cannot directly replace an NPN part without changing the supply and biasing.
