Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate programmer?
Yes. The ISP header works with an AVR ISP programmer such as USBasp, and the JTAG header needs a JTAG-capable debugger such as an AVR JTAG ICE.
Does JTAG use any I/O pins?
Yes. On the ATmega128A the JTAG interface uses Port F (PF4 to PF7), so those pins are not available for general I/O while JTAG is enabled.
