How do I program the UNO R3 in this kit?
Connect the board to your computer with a USB Type-B cable, install the Arduino IDE, select the Arduino Uno board and its serial port, then upload your sketch.
Can the board be powered from an external supply?
Yes. The UNO R3 accepts 7 to 12 V on its barrel jack, which is the recommended range, and can also be powered at 5 V over USB. Avoid exceeding 12 V, as the onboard regulator then runs hot.
