About this product
The Arduino Leonardo R3 is a board in the Uno R3 form factor built around the ATmega32U4 microcontroller, which handles USB directly without a separate USB-to-serial chip. This lets it appear to a computer as a keyboard, mouse or other HID device. It suits projects that need native USB, such as custom input devices and controllers.

Frequently asked questions
Are Uno R3 shields compatible with the Leonardo?
Most Uno R3 shields fit physically because the Leonardo uses the same header layout. Check each shield's library for Leonardo support, since USB serial behaviour differs from the Uno.
Why does Serial behave differently from the Uno?
On the Leonardo, Serial refers to the USB CDC connection to the computer, while the hardware UART pins D0 (RX) and D1 (TX) are accessed through Serial1. Wait for the port to open before sending data when using Serial.
