About this product
Add-on kit for an animated face on an 8x8 LED matrix. A MAX7219 driver controls all 64 LEDs with three wires, and a push button switches the face between expressions such as happy, sad and surprised. Each face is written in code as rows of binary bits, without libraries, so learners can draw new faces. The Arduino board is not included.

Frequently asked questions
How many wires connect the MAX7219 module to the Arduino?
Three signal wires: DIN, CLK and LOAD (CS). The module also needs VCC and GND for power. The MAX7219 operates from 4.0 V to 5.5 V, so the Arduino's 5 V pin is suitable.
Can I draw my own faces?
Yes. Each face is a set of rows of binary bits, where 1 turns an LED on and 0 turns it off. Changing these bits in the code creates a new expression.
